Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select the option to power off the device completely.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray and push firmly to eject it.

Heat the rear cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the edges of the back cover for about two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back cover and pull gently to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic prying tool or opening pick into the gap between the frame and the rear cover.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the back cover to separate the adhesive.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear cover away from the chassis once all adhesive strips are detached.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly.

Pry up the speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger under the speaker module and lift it out of the lower chassis.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the main interconnect ribbon connector off the sub-board.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
2 minCarefully pry up the antenna connector from the sub-board using precision tweezers.

Remove the damaged sub-board
2 minPry the sub-board housing the primary microphone out of the phone body with a spudger.

Install the new microphone sub-board
2 minSet the replacement sub-board into the bottom cavity and press gently until it sits flat.

Reconnect the coaxial antenna cable
2 minAlign the antenna head over its socket on the sub-board and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the main flex cable
1 minPress the interconnect ribbon connector squarely onto the replacement sub-board connector.

Reinstall the speaker housing
1 minPosition the speaker assembly over the sub-board and align the screw holes.

Fasten the lower housing screws
2 minDrive the Phillips #000 screws back into the speaker housing until snug.

Reattach the back cover
3 minApply new adhesive strips along the rim, align the rear cover, and press firmly along the perimeter.
