   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it.

   Heat the rear cover

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the edges of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the plastic rear panel.

   Attach a suction cup

   Press a suction cup onto the lower third of the rear panel. Pull upward gently to create a small gap between the panel and the frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Slide an opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slice slowly along the bottom edge to sever the factory tape.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Guide the pick along the left, top, and right edges of the device. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal ribbons.

   Remove the back cover

   Lift the rear panel away from the frame entirely. Set the back panel aside in a clean, dust-free spot.

   Unscrew the upper motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic motherboard frame shield.

   Detach the motherboard cover

   Gently insert a spudger under the motherboard shield and lift it off the frame.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard terminal using a plastic spudger.

    Disconnect the main display interconnect cable

    Unplug the main ribbon cable running over the battery to clear the path for battery removal.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery well.

    Pull the adhesive tabs

    Locate the battery pull-tabs, peel them back, and pull slowly at a flat angle to stretch out the adhesive strips.

    Pry up the old battery

    Insert a flat plastic opening tool beneath the battery and gently lever it out of the recess.

    Clean the battery well

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery frame using an alcohol swab.

    Install new battery adhesive

    Peel the backing off new double-sided adhesive strips and press them firmly into the phone chassis.

    Insert the replacement battery

    Align the new battery in the recess and press down lightly to secure it against the adhesive.

    Reconnect flex cables and reassemble cover

    Attach the main interconnect cable and battery connector, then screw the upper motherboard shield back into place.
