Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select the power off option on the screen.

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the tray and push firmly to pop it out.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply heat around the edges of the back panel using a heat gun for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel to create leverage.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to open a small gap and slide a plastic opening pick under the cover.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four sides of the phone to cut through the remaining adhesive.

Lift off the rear cover
1 minGently lift the plastic rear panel away from the frame and set it aside.

Remove the midframe screws
4 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws holding down the plastic midframe.

Unclip the midframe
2 minInsert a spudger around the midframe border and pop it free from the internal housing clips.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery flex connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the interconnect flex
1 minUnplug the main display and motherboard interconnect cable running over the battery.

Apply isopropyl alcohol
2 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to loosen glue.

Pry out the battery
3 minInsert a flat plastic card or wide pry tool beneath the battery and carefully lift it out.

Apply new battery adhesive
2 minPlace new double-sided battery adhesive strips directly into the phone's recessed frame.

Install the new battery
1 minSet the new battery into the recess and press down firmly to adhere it to the frame.

Reconnect the flex cables
1 minAlign and press down on the main interconnect cable and battery connector until they snap into place.

Snap midframe into position
2 minAlign the plastic midframe over the body and press along the edges until all clips engage.

Secure midframe screws
3 minThread and tighten all Phillips #000 screws to hold the midframe in place.

Apply back cover adhesive
2 minLay down fresh precut adhesive tape along the outer perimeter of the phone body.

Seal the rear cover
2 minPlace the back cover onto the chassis and press firmly around all edges to seal it tightly.
