Step-by-step

Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the SIM card tray.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply heat evenly around the outer edges of the rear panel for 2 to 3 minutes using a heat gun or hairdryer.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick under the seam at the bottom edge and slice around all four sides to detach the cover.

Lift off the back cover
1 minCarefully remove the back cover from the frame and place it in a clean workspace.

Unscrew the top housing cover
3 minUse a Phillips PH00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the top plastic motherboard cover.

Pry off the top cover
2 minInsert a nylon spudger under the plastic bracket edge and lift to unclip it from the chassis.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off the main board to kill power to the system.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to disconnect the wide display ribbon cable from the logic board.

Disconnect the interconnect cable
1 minUnplug the main interconnect flex cable connecting the logic board to the lower charging board.

Disconnect the power and volume flex cable
1 minGently pry up the side button connector attached to the side frame of the device.

Unplug the coaxial antenna cables
2 minUse fine tweezers to pop the black and white antenna head cables off their sockets on the logic board.

Unscrew the logic board
1 minRemove the single Phillips screw anchoring the top corner of the logic board to the metal housing.

Lift out the logic board
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the bottom edge of the board and gently lift it free from the phone frame.
