Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Shut Down to turn off the phone completely.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left side of the frame and push firmly to eject the tray.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply heat to the outer edges of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Apply a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower back panel and pull upward to create a small opening.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic pick into the gap between the rear cover and the frame assembly.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minCarefully run the opening pick along all four edges to release the back cover.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly lift the rear cover and use tweezers to detach the fingerprint flex cable from the board.

Unscrew the motherboard bracket
3 minRemove all Phillips #00 screws securing the upper plastic protective cover.

Remove the upper housing
2 minUse a spudger to pry off the upper plastic motherboard bracket.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery flex cable from its socket.

Disconnect the display flex cable
2 minUnplug the screen flex connector located on the motherboard.

Heat the front display
3 minWarm the edges of the cracked screen with a heat gun for 2–3 minutes.

Pry up the glass screen
4 minInsert an opening pick under the edge of the display glass and slice around the entire perimeter.

Remove the broken screen
2 minLift the screen away from the frame while carefully guiding the flex cable through the slot.

Clean the screen frame
4 minScrape off residual glue and shattered glass fragments using isopropyl alcohol and a pry tool.

Apply fresh frame adhesive
3 minLay double-sided adhesive strips cleanly along the rim of the phone frame.

Mount the new display
3 minFeed the new screen flex cable through the frame opening and press the display firmly into place.

Reconnect screen and battery flexes
2 minSnap the display flex connector and battery connector back onto the motherboard.

Reinstall the motherboard bracket
3 minPosition the upper plastic cover and secure it with the Phillips #00 screws.

Attach the fingerprint cable
2 minPlug the fingerprint sensor flex cable into the connector on the upper housing.

Reseal the back cover
3 minApply perimeter adhesive tape and press the rear cover down evenly to secure it.
