Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minTurn off your Motorola Moto G50 completely before starting disassembly.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole on the left edge and push firmly to pop it out.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply heat to the edges of the back cover using a heat gun for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower section of the back panel and gently pull upward to create a seam.

Insert plastic prying pick
1 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created between the plastic frame and the rear cover.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the remaining adhesive tape.

Hinge the back cover open
2 minCarefully flip the rear cover open to the right side like a book, avoiding tension on the reader cable.

Disconnect fingerprint cable
2 minUse a spudger to detach the fingerprint sensor ribbon connector from the motherboard and set the cover aside.

Unscrew lower speaker assembly
3 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws holding down the lower speaker cover and antenna shield.

2 minInsert a flat spudger under the charging port sub-board to release its adhesive and lift it out.

Set replacement board
2 minPosition the new Moto G50 charging port sub-board into the lower chassis housing recess.

Reconnect coaxial cable
2 minAlign and press the coaxial antenna cable head onto the sub-board terminal until it snaps into place.

Attach main ribbon flex
2 minSnap the main interconnect flex connector squarely onto the top connector of the new sub-board.

Reinstall speaker assembly
2 minLower the speaker module over the sub-board and press it down flush against the phone frame.

Tighten speaker housing screws
3 minReplace and firmly tighten all Phillips #000 screws securing the speaker cover.

Reconnect fingerprint flex
2 minHold the rear cover close to the frame and attach the fingerprint sensor flex cable to the motherboard.

Apply back cover adhesive
3 minPlace new double-sided adhesive strips along the inner border of the phone chassis.

Press rear cover closed
2 minAlign the back cover precisely over the frame and press around the perimeter to seal the adhesive.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush with the body.
