Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray. Press firmly to pop the tray out and set it aside.

Heat the rear cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to warm the outer edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup tool
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the rear panel and gently pull upward to create a small gap.

Insert plastic prying tool
1 minSlide a thin plastic prying pick into the gap formed between the back panel and the phone frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic pick around all four edges of the back panel to cut through the factory adhesive tape.

Lift off the back panel
1 minCarefully lift the rear panel away from the chassis and place it on your workspace mat.

Unscrew the motherboard bracket
3 minUse a Phillips #00 driver to remove the screws holding the plastic upper motherboard shield in place.

Remove upper motherboard frame

Pull battery adhesive tabs
3 minGrasp the pull tabs on the battery housing with tweezers and slowly pull them out horizontally.

Remove the old battery
2 minInsert a wide plastic prying tool beneath the battery and gently lift it out from the phone chassis.

Apply replacement adhesive strips
2 minPlace new battery adhesive strips onto the back of your replacement battery and peel off the protective backing.

1 minAlign the replacement battery in the battery compartment and press down firmly to set the adhesive.

Reconnect ribbon and battery cables
2 minSnap the interconnect ribbon cable and battery connector back into their corresponding motherboard sockets.
