Power off phone
1 minTurn off your Motorola Moto G5 Plus completely before starting the disassembly.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the top edge to pop out the SIM and microSD card tray.

Heat display perimeter
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat around the front screen edges for two minutes to soften the screen adhesive.

Attach suction cup
2 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass display and gently pull upward to form a gap.

Slice bottom adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the gap along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive layer.

Slice edge adhesive
4 minCarefully slide the opening pick around the left, right, and top edges to separate the display from the frame.

Lift display panel
2 minGently swing the display open from the right side like a book cover, taking care not to strain the flex cable.

Unscrew display bracket
2 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw securing the metal shield over the display cable connector.

Disconnect display flex
2 minPry the display press connector straight up from the motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Unscrew internal midframe
5 minRemove the 18 Phillips #000 screws holding the plastic midframe panel to the rear enclosure.

Detach plastic midframe

Disconnect antenna cable
2 minUse tweezers to carefully unsnap the coaxial antenna cable from its connector on the lower corner of the board.

3 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the motherboard assembly inside the body frame.

Lift motherboard out
3 minCarefully pry the motherboard up and remove it from the rear housing.

Apply liquid flux
2 minApply a drop of liquid flux across the structural solder legs and pin contacts of the Micro-USB port.

Desolder anchor legs
5 minHeat each anchor pin with a soldering iron while using desoldering braid to wick away the old solder.

Remove old USB port
4 minGently grip the damaged Micro-USB port with tweezers while heating the rear pin connections until it frees.

Solder new charging port
8 minAlign the replacement Micro-USB port onto the PCB pads and solder all structural and data connections.

Seat motherboard
3 minPlace the motherboard back into the housing and secure it with its original Phillips #000 screws.

Reconnect antenna cable

3 minAlign the glass screen panel carefully with the frame and press evenly around the edges to seal.
