Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Shut Down to turn off the device completely.

Remove SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone to eject the tray.

Heat Rear Cover
2 minApply a heat gun or heated pad around the outer edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass cover and pull gently to create a slight gap.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam under the bottom edge of the back panel.

Slice Rear Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the back panel to slice through the perimeter adhesive.

Lift Off Back Cover
1 minGently lift the back cover straight off the frame and set it aside safely.

Unscrew Midframe Screws
5 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 16 screws securing the plastic midframe and lower loudspeaker cover.

Remove Loudspeaker Module
2 minInsert a spudger under the lower loudspeaker cover and lift it up out of the phone body.

Unclip Upper Midframe Bracket
3 minPry along the edges of the upper midframe shield to unclip it from the chassis and remove it.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the edge of a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex cable directly off the motherboard socket.

Disconnect Interconnect Cable
2 minUnplug the main display and daughterboard interconnect flex cable running across the battery.

Apply Isopropyl Alcohol
3 minApply a few drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol around the battery edges to dissolve the underlying glue.

Locate Adhesive Pull Tabs
1 minFind the clear plastic adhesive pull-tab edges sticking out near the bottom or sides of the battery.

Pull Adhesive Strips
4 minSlowly pull the stretch-release adhesive tape strips out horizontally at a flat angle until free.

Pry Out Old Battery
2 minInsert a flat plastic opening card under the battery and carefully lift it out from the recessed tray.

Clean Battery Compartment
2 minWipe away remaining adhesive bits and residue inside the frame using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

Apply New Adhesive Strips
2 minPeel the backing off new battery adhesive strips and stick them flat into the empty frame tray.

Install New Battery
2 minAlign the replacement battery over the tray and press down firmly to secure it against the adhesive.
