Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select power off to turn off the phone completely.

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left edge of the phone and push firmly to eject the tray.

Heat Back Cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the outer edges of the back panel for two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly near the bottom edge of the back cover and pull upward gently to create a gap.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slowly slide it around the perimeter to sever the adhesive.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minSlightly lift the back cover and use a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable off its motherboard connector.

Remove Loudspeaker Screws
3 minUnscrew the Phillips #00 screws holding down the lower loudspeaker cover assembly.

Detach Loudspeaker Assembly
2 minPry up the lower loudspeaker module using the pointed end of a spudger and lift it clear of the chassis.

Disconnect Interconnect Cable
1 minUse a spudger to pry the main motherboard interconnect flex cable straight up from the bottom daughterboard.

Unplug Coaxial Cable
1 minGently lift the coaxial antenna cable connector off the daughterboard using fine tweezers.

Pry Out Sub-Board
2 minInsert a flat spudger under the lower sub-board containing the microphone and carefully lever it out of the frame.

Insert New Microphone Board
2 minAlign the replacement sub-board with the bottom compartment and press it flat into position.

Reconnect Flex and Antenna
2 minSnap the main interconnect cable and coaxial antenna cable firmly onto their respective sub-board connectors.

Reinstall Loudspeaker Assembly
3 minPlace the loudspeaker housing back over the sub-board and secure it with the Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minAttach the fingerprint reader flex cable to the motherboard connector before closing the back cover.

Reseal Back Cover
3 minApply new adhesive around the edge of the frame, then press the back cover firmly onto the device.
