Step-by-step
- 1
Turn Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully powered down before proceeding.

Remove the Back Cover
2 minInsert a plastic spudger or fingernail into the notch at the bottom edge of the phone. Pry the flexible rear cover up and away from the body.

Eject SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots on the back chassis.

Unscrew the Midframe
5 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 19 screws securing the inner midframe assembly.

Pry Off the Midframe
3 minInsert an opening pick between the midframe and the front display assembly, sliding around the perimeter to release the plastic retention clips.

Disconnect the Battery
2 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Disconnect Power Button Cable
2 minUse tweezers to carefully flip up the locking flap on the power and volume button ZIF connector, then pull the flex cable out.

Peel Up the Power Button Assembly
3 minGently slide a spudger under the power button flex cable to separate it from the adhesive holding it to the inner frame.

Remove Power Key Actuator
2 minUse precision tweezers to lift the small mechanical power button button actuator out of its slot in the outer casing if damaged.

Install Replacement Flex Cable
2 minAlign the new power button flex assembly into the side channel of the frame and press firmly to set the adhesive backing.

Connect Button Ribbon Cable
2 minSlide the power flex cable end into the motherboard ZIF socket and press the locking lever down to lock it in place.

Reconnect the Battery
1 minAlign the battery flex connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

Reinstall Midframe Screws
4 minPlace the midframe back over the phone, snap the perimeter clips together, and replace all 19 Phillips #00 screws.

Snap On Back Cover
2 minReinsert any SIM and microSD cards, then press the back cover onto the device until all clips snap flush.
