Step-by-step

Turn Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right edge, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully powered down before proceeding.

Remove the Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic prying tool or fingernail into the notch at the bottom edge of the phone. Gently lift up to unsnap and peel off the plastic rear cover.

Remove the Battery
1 minInsert your prying tool into the battery recessed slot at the bottom edge. Lift the battery up and remove it from its compartment.

Remove SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and MicroSD card from their respective slots above the battery bay.

Unscrew the Midframe
3 minUse a precision screwdriver to remove the 10 T3 Torx screws securing the inner midframe assembly.

Detach the Midframe
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool along the seam between the midframe and the screen bezel. Pry around the perimeter until the midframe snaps free from the housing.

Disconnect Display Flex Cables
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry open the zif socket latch and disconnect the display flex cable from the motherboard.

Unscrew the Motherboard
1 minRemove the single Torx screw holding the lower section of the main motherboard logic board in place.

Remove the Motherboard
2 minCarefully lift the motherboard up from the lower edge using a spudger and remove it from the front housing assembly.

Heat the Screen Edges
3 minApply continuous heat around the front display perimeter using a heat gun or hair dryer for approximately 2 minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a heavy-duty suction cup onto the lower third of the damaged glass display until it seals tightly.

Slice Front Screen Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert a thin plastic opening pick under the edge of the glass. Slide the pick along all four sides to separate the adhesive.

Lift Damaged Screen Assembly
2 minGently hinge the old display assembly away from the frame while threading the attached flex cables out through the frame slot.

Clean Frame Adhesive Residue
3 minScrape away remaining tape chunks with a spudger and wipe down the frame inner perimeter using isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth.

Apply New Screen Adhesive
3 minPeel and stick double-sided adhesive strips along the entire perimeter ledge of the inner phone frame.

Thread Cable and Place Screen
2 minFeed the new display assembly flex cables through the frame slot. Align the new screen over the frame and press firmly around all edges to secure it.

Reinstall the Motherboard
2 minLower the motherboard back into the frame slot, making sure the display flex cable remains accessible above the board.

Reconnect Display Cables
2 minAlign and lock down the display flex cable connector into its ZIF port on the motherboard using a spudger tool.

Snap Midframe into Place
2 minPosition the inner midframe over the chassis assembly and press around the edges until all plastic clips snap tightly closed.

Tighten Midframe Screws
3 minReinstall all screws previously removed from the midframe assembly using your precision screwdriver.

Reinsert Battery and Rear Cover
2 minReinstall the cards, place the battery back into its bay, align the plastic back cover, and snap it down along the edges.
