Step-by-step

Power Off Device
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right edge, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove Back Cover
1 minInsert your fingernail or a plastic opening tool into the notch at the bottom edge of the phone. Pry upward to unclip and detach the plastic back cover.

Remove Battery
1 minLift the battery out from the notch at its lower edge. Set the battery aside in a safe, cool place.

Eject Cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective card slots.

Unscrew Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the plastic rear midframe to the phone frame.

Pry Off Midframe
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the seam along the side edge. Work around the perimeter to release plastic clips and lift off the midframe.

Disconnect Antenna Cable
2 minUse tweezers or the flat tip of a spudger to carefully pop the coaxial antenna cable off its socket on the lower sub-board.

Disconnect Sub-Board Flex
1 minPry up the press-fit ribbon cable connector linking the lower microphone sub-board to the motherboard using a spudger.

Remove Defective Microphone Sub-Board
2 minGently insert a plastic opening tool under the lower sub-board assembly and pry it up from the bottom chassis.

Position Replacement Microphone Board
2 minSet the new microphone sub-board into the lower recess of the phone chassis and press gently to seat it flat.

Reconnect Sub-Board Flex
1 minAlign the press-fit flex connector directly over its socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

Reconnect Antenna Cable
2 minAlign the tiny circular coaxial antenna connector over its terminal on the board and press down lightly with tweezers until it clicks.

Reattach Midframe
2 minPlace the rear midframe back onto the housing and press along the outer edges until all plastic clips snap together.

Secure Midframe Screws
3 minReinstall all Phillips screws back into the midframe, tightening until snug without stripping the threads.

Reinsert Battery and Cards
1 minSlide your SIM card and microSD card back into their slots, then reinsert the battery into its compartment.

Snap On Back Cover
1 minPosition the back cover over the rear of the device and press around all sides to snap it securely closed.
