Step-by-step

Power Down the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Confirm the device is entirely powered down before starting.

Remove the Back Cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch on the bottom edge of the phone. Pry gently upward to detach the plastic cover clips.

Remove the Battery
1 minInsert a plastic spudger into the notch beneath the battery. Lift the lithium-ion battery out of the housing bay.

Remove Cards
2 minSlide out the micro-SIM card and any installed microSD card from their respective slots using your fingertip or a spudger.

Unscrew the Midframe
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the ten screws securing the midframe to the phone chassis.

Unclip the Midframe
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the seam between the outer bezel and the midframe. Pry around the perimeter to release the locking tabs.

Remove the Midframe
2 minLift the rear midframe straight off the chassis and set it aside, taking care not to lose the side button covers.

Disconnect the Display Cable
2 minLocate the main display flex cable connector on the logic board. Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the connector straight up.

Disconnect the Digitizer Cable
2 minUse your spudger to lift the digitizer press connector off its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect the Front Camera
2 minPry up the front camera press-connector with a spudger, then use tweezers to lift the camera module clear.

Unclip the Logic Board
3 minGently push back the plastic retaining tabs along the left and top edges of the motherboard frame using a spudger.

Remove the Logic Board
2 minGrasp the logic board by the top edges and pivot it upward away from the chassis. Lift the board free from the phone body.
