   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before continuing.

   Remove the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the card tray on the side of the phone. Push firmly inward to eject the tray, then remove it.

   Heat the rear cover

   Apply heat around the outer edges of the rear cover for 2 to 3 minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the perimeter adhesive.

   Attach suction cup

   Press a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear cover to create a tight seal.

   Insert opening pick

   Pull up on the suction cup handle to create a small gap at the bottom edge, then slide a plastic opening pick into the gap.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide the plastic pick carefully around all four edges of the back cover to slice through the adhesive. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal components.

   Lift the rear cover

   Gently hinge open the back cover from the right edge. Do not pull it away completely because the fingerprint sensor flex cable is still attached.

   Unscrew fingerprint bracket

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the metal bracket over the fingerprint reader connector.

   Disconnect fingerprint cable

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex connector straight up from the motherboard.

    Remove rear cover

    Lift the rear cover clear of the phone and place it on a clean, safe surface.

    Unscrew mainboard midframe

    Remove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe guard covering the upper motherboard area.

    Pry up midframe bezel

    Insert a plastic prying tool under the corner of the upper plastic frame and pop it free from the phone housing.

    Disconnect battery cable

    Use a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket to disconnect power.

    Disconnect interconnect cable

    Disconnect the main flex cable running across the battery by prying its press connector off the motherboard with a spudger.

    Locate adhesive pull tabs

    Identify the adhesive pull tabs sticking out from under the bottom edge of the battery.

    Pull adhesive strips

    Slowly pull each adhesive tab outward at a low angle away from the phone until the stretch-release strips come completely out from under the battery.

    Lift out old battery

    If stubborn adhesive remains, apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the battery edge and gently pry it out using a plastic spudger.

    Apply new adhesive strips

    Peel the protective backing off new battery adhesive strips and press them onto the back of the replacement battery.

    Install replacement battery

    Set the new battery into the chassis cavity and press down firmly to secure it to the frame.

    Reconnect flex cables

    Snap the main interconnect cable and the new battery press connector directly onto their sockets on the motherboard.

    Reinstall midframe guard

    Align the plastic midframe guard over the top motherboard area, snap it into place, and secure it with the Phillips #00 screws.

    Reconnect fingerprint sensor

    Plug the fingerprint sensor press connector onto the motherboard socket and fasten its metal bracket with the single Phillips screw.

    Seal rear cover

    Apply fresh rear cover adhesive along the inner perimeter of the frame, align the back cover, and press firmly along all edges to set the seal.
