Safety
- Wear safety glasses when working with heated adhesives and prying tools.
- Disconnect the device from any external power sources before starting repairs.
- Do not puncture or bend the battery located above the lower daughterboard.
Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to pop out the tray and remove it.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the outer edges of the rear panel for about 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back panel. Press down firmly to secure a tight seal.

Create an opening gap
3 minPull up on the suction cup while pressing a thin opening pick into the gap between the frame and the back panel.

Slice perimeter adhesive
5 minSlide the opening pick carefully along all four edges of the phone to separate the back cover adhesive.

Lift away the back cover
2 minGently lift the back cover off the chassis. Set it aside in a safe, dust-free spot.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower speaker assembly.

Remove the speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the edge of the speaker module and pry it up to remove it from the bottom frame.

Disconnect the daughterboard flex cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pop the main interconnect flex cable connector off the lower daughterboard.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to carefully lift the head of the coaxial antenna cable straight up from its connector on the daughterboard.

Pry up the daughterboard module
3 minInsert a flat plastic tool under the daughterboard containing the microphone and carefully pry it up from the chassis.

Install the new microphone board
2 minPosition the new daughterboard with the microphone into the bottom recess and press down gently until it sits flush.

Reconnect the antenna and flex cables
3 minSnap the coaxial cable connector onto its socket and press the main flex connector back onto the daughterboard.

Reattach the speaker housing
3 minPlace the lower speaker assembly back over the daughterboard and secure it with the Phillips screws.

Reseal and press the back cover
4 minApply new adhesive strips along the perimeter, align the back cover, and press firmly to seal the device shut.
