Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left side of the frame. Press firmly to eject the tray, then slide it out.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the outer edges of the rear panel for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Pull up steadily to create a small gap between the cover and the frame.

Insert a plastic pry tool
2 minInsert the edge of a plastic prying tool into the gap created by the suction cup.

Slice the back cover adhesive
3 minSlide the pry tool along all four edges of the back panel to slice through the adhesive seal.

Lift off the back cover
1 minCarefully separate the back panel from the frame and set it aside.

Unscrew the upper midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the top protective motherboard bracket.

Pry off the motherboard cover
2 minInsert a spudger under the plastic motherboard shield and gently pop it free from the housing clips.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
1 minUnplug the main flex cable running across the top of the battery using your spudger.

Apply isopropyl alcohol
3 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery to weaken the glue.

Pry out the battery
4 minInsert a flat plastic prying tool beneath the battery and carefully lever it upwards. Do not bend or puncture the battery cell.

Remove the old battery
1 minLift the battery out of the chassis and clean any remaining adhesive residue from the tray.

Apply new battery adhesive
2 minLay down fresh battery adhesive strips into the metal housing tray and peel off the protective liners.

Install the replacement battery
2 minPosition the new battery into the housing and press it firmly into place.

Power the G34 back on and test the battery replacement function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
