Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the plastic back cover for two minutes to soften the rear adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear panel and press firmly to create a seal. Pull up gently on the ring to form a small gap.

Slice the back cover adhesive
3 minInsert an opening pick into the gap between the back panel and the frame. Slide the pick around the entire perimeter to slice through the adhesive seal.

Remove the back cover
1 minGently lift the plastic back cover off the chassis and set it aside.

Unscrew the upper motherboard cover
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the top plastic cover over the motherboard.

Detach the upper plastic cover
1 minInsert a spudger beneath the edge of the upper plastic motherboard cover and carefully pry it up from the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Unplug the display flex cable
1 minUse a spudger to lift and disconnect the main screen flex cable connector from the motherboard.

Remove the lower speaker screws
2 minUnscrew the Phillips #00 screws holding the loudspeaker housing down at the bottom of the device.

Pry off the loudspeaker assembly
1 minWedge a plastic opening tool beneath the loudspeaker module and lift it out of the lower chassis.

Heat the front display
3 minWarm the outer perimeter of the screen assembly with a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes to loosen the glass adhesive bond.

Attach suction cup to screen
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower portion of the display glass and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick under the display
2 minPush a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the front glass and the middle frame.

Slice around the screen edges
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the screen panel to cut through the remaining adhesive strip.

Remove the old screen assembly
2 minCarefully lift the cracked screen off the frame, threading the display flex cable through its slot in the frame.

Clean the frame rim
4 minScrape away leftover adhesive and small glass pieces from the inner frame using a flat spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new screen adhesive
3 minApply pre-cut screen adhesive tape around the recess of the middle frame, pressing down firmly to lock it into place.

Test the new display
3 minThread the replacement screen cable through the frame, connect it and the battery, and power on the phone to confirm display functionality.

Power off and disconnect battery
1 minTurn off the phone completely and disconnect the battery flex cable again before finalizing the installation.

Align and seat the screen
2 minPeel the protective backing off the frame adhesive, then align the new screen panel carefully into the frame and press it down along the edges.

Reinstall internal covers and screws
3 minReconnect the display and battery flex cables, reattach the upper board cover and lower speaker module, and tighten all Phillips screws.

Reattach the back cover
2 minApply double-sided adhesive strips around the rear frame, then align and press the back cover tightly against the chassis.

Reinsert the SIM card tray
1 minPush the SIM tray back into its slot on the side of the device until it snaps flush with the outer edge.
