   Power off the Moto G31

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the small pinhole on the left side of the device. Push straight in until the tray pops out, then set it aside.

   Heat the rear plastic panel

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to warm the outer edges of the back cover for 1 to 2 minutes. This softens the underlying frame adhesive.

   Apply suction cup to lower back panel

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear panel and press down firmly. Pull upward on the ring to create a small gap between the cover and frame.

   Slice through back panel adhesive

   Insert a plastic prying tool into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide it along all four edges to slice through the adhesive seal.

   Lift away the rear cover

   Carefully lift the rear panel off the phone body. Place the cover aside on a clean, soft surface.

   Unscrew lower speaker assembly

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the loudspeaker cover at the bottom of the device. Keep the screws organized for reassembly.

   Remove loudspeaker housing

   Insert a plastic spudger beneath the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and pry upward. Lift the housing out to reveal the microphone sub-board.

   Disconnect interconnect flex cable

   Use a flat plastic spudger to pop the main interconnect flex cable connector straight up off the sub-board. Work gently to protect the connector socket.

    Disconnect coaxial antenna cable

    Gently lift the metallic head of the white antenna cable off the sub-board using tweezers. Unroute the wire from its frame channel.

    Remove damaged microphone sub-board

    Insert a spudger under the sub-board that houses the primary microphone. Pry up gently to release it from the chassis adhesive.

    Inspect microphone rubber seal

    Ensure the rubber acoustic gasket inside the lower frame cavity is clean and intact. Clear any dust or debris blocking the microphone hole with tweezers.

    Install new microphone sub-board

    Align the replacement sub-board over the microphone port recess in the chassis. Press down firmly to secure it into position.

    Reconnect antenna and interconnect cables

    Snap the coaxial antenna cable back onto its sub-board terminal using tweezers. Press down on the main interconnect flex connector until it clicks into place.

    Reinstall loudspeaker housing

    Place the loudspeaker assembly back over the sub-board and press it flat. Reinstall and tighten all Phillips screws securely.

    Reseal and attach back cover

    Apply pre-cut adhesive tape along the perimeter of the frame. Align the rear cover with the phone body and press firmly along all edges to seal it.
