Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to turn off the device completely.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the upper left side of the frame to remove the SIM tray.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply heat around the outer perimeter of the back cover using a heat gun for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear panel and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
1 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created between the rear panel and the phone frame.

Slice the rear adhesive
3 minCarefully slide the opening pick around all four edges of the back cover to slice through the adhesive seal.

Lift the back cover carefully
1 minHinge the back cover open from the right side, taking care not to stretch or tear the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Remove fingerprint bracket screw
1 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the single screw holding the metal fingerprint flex bracket.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor flex
1 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Remove lower speaker housing screws
2 minRemove the seven Phillips #000 screws securing the plastic loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device.

Pry out the loudspeaker module
1 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the notch on the loudspeaker housing and lift it out of the frame.

Install the new loudspeaker module
1 minPosition the replacement loudspeaker module into the lower frame cutout and press firmly until it snaps into place.

Secure speaker screws
2 minReinstall the seven Phillips #000 screws to firmly attach the loudspeaker module to the frame.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor flex
2 minPress the fingerprint connector onto its socket, replace the protective metal bracket, and secure it with the single screw.

Reattach back cover and SIM tray
2 minApply new adhesive tape along the perimeter, press the back cover firmly onto the frame, and reinsert the SIM tray.
After your Motorola G30 speaker repair
