Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to shut down the phone completely.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge and push firmly to pop it out.

Heat the back cover edges
2 minApply a heat gun or heated pad around the outer edges of the rear panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice the rear adhesive
3 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull up slightly, and insert an opening pick into the gap.

Separate the back panel
4 minSlide the pick gently around all four sides to slice through the adhesive, taking care near the fingerprint sensor.

Unhook the fingerprint sensor cable
2 minCarefully tilt the back panel up and use a plastic spudger to disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Unscrew the bottom speaker assembly
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower speaker housing.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minPry up the plastic speaker cover using an opening tool and lift it out of the phone frame.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to detach the main ribbon cable connector from the sub-board.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cable
2 minGently pry up the round white coaxial antenna connector from its socket on the bottom sub-board using tweezers.

Remove the old microphone sub-board
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool beneath the sub-board containing the primary microphone and pry it out of the recess.

Position the new microphone sub-board
2 minAlign the replacement sub-board into the bottom chassis recess and press gently into place.

Reconnect the flex and antenna cables
2 minPress the main flex connector and the coaxial antenna cable onto their respective sockets until they click securely.

Reinstall the loudspeaker housing
3 minPlace the speaker cover back over the sub-board and tighten the seven Phillips #00 screws.
