   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely shut down before beginning.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray on the left side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it out completely.

   Heat the rear cover

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the outer edges of the rear plastic cover for 2 minutes. This softens the internal adhesive holding the cover.

   Attach the suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear cover near the bottom edge. Pull upward steadily to create a slight gap between the cover and the frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Do not insert it deeper than 3 mm to avoid damaging internal components.

   Slice the side adhesive

   Slide the pick along the bottom and right edges of the phone to cut through the adhesive. Unclip the plastic tabs securing the rear cover as you go.

   Unclip the top edge

   Slide the pick around the top and left edges to release the remaining clips. Keep the rear cover close to the frame, as a ribbon cable is still attached.

   Open the rear cover

   Gently swing the rear cover open to the right side like a book. Locate the fingerprint sensor flex cable connected to the motherboard.

   Unscrew the motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper plastic motherboard cover. Organize the screws so they can be reinstalled correctly.

    Remove the motherboard cover

    Insert a plastic spudger under the edge of the motherboard cover and lift it free. Set the plastic bracket aside.

    Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

    Pry the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable press connector straight up off the motherboard using a spudger. Remove the back cover completely.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Use the pointed end of a spudger to disconnect the battery flex cable from its socket on the motherboard. This cuts power to prevent short circuits.

    Disconnect the display cable

    Disconnect the main interconnect flex cable that runs over top of the battery. Fold it back gently out of the work area.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery. Let it sit for 2 minutes to weaken the adhesive underneath.

    Locate adhesive pull-tabs

    Find the clear plastic adhesive pull-tabs along the top or bottom edges of the battery. Unpeel the tab ends carefully with tweezers.

    Pull adhesive strips

    Slowly pull the adhesive pull-tabs at a low angle, wrapping them around a screwdriver if necessary. Pull steadily until the strips release from under the battery.

    Pry out the battery

    Insert a flat plastic prying tool under the edge of the battery and lift slowly. Never use metal tools or puncture the soft casing.

    Clean the battery bay

    Wipe down the battery compartment with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Remove all leftover adhesive tape or sticky residue.

    Apply new adhesive

    Place new double-sided adhesive strips into the battery compartment frame. Peel off the protective top film to expose the sticky side.

    Install the replacement battery

    Set the new battery into the well, carefully aligning its position so the cable reaches the motherboard. Press down firmly across the top to set the glue.

    Reconnect interior flex cables

    Press the interconnect flex cable and the battery connector back into their motherboard sockets until they snap into place.

    Attach the fingerprint reader

    Hold the rear cover near the motherboard and press the fingerprint sensor cable back onto its terminal. Reinstall the plastic motherboard shield with its screws.

    Seal the rear cover

    Align the back cover over the housing and press down firmly around the perimeter. Snap all plastic clips closed to seal the back cover.

    Reinsert the SIM tray

    Slide the SIM card tray back into the phone until it sits flush with the frame. Power on the device to test functionality.
