Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then slide it completely out.

Heat the Back Cover
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive underneath.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
5 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover and pull up to create a small gap. Insert an opening pick into the gap and slice along all four edges.

Lift Off the Back Cover
2 minGently lift the back cover off the body, making sure no residual adhesive catches on internal components.

Remove Midframe Screws
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the upper midframe shield over the motherboard.

Unclip Upper Midframe Shield
3 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the edge of the plastic midframe shield and gently pry it up to remove it.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minLocate the battery press connector on the motherboard and pop it off using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect Display and Main Flexes
2 minPry up the display flex cable and the main interconnect cable press connectors from the logic board.

Unplug Antenna Coaxial Cables
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the antenna cable heads straight up from their sockets on the motherboard.

Remove Camera Modules
3 minDisconnect the front and rear camera flex connectors, then lift the camera modules out of their housing slots.

Pry Up the Logic Board
3 minInsert a spudger beneath the corner of the logic board and gently pry it up out of the plastic chassis.

Inspect Board Under Magnification
5 minExamine the logic board using a magnifying glass to locate cold solder joints, shorted components, or fluid corrosion.

Reflow Damaged Solder Joints
10 minApply liquid flux to the targeted repair area on the board and touch the soldering iron tip to reflow cracked solder pads.

Clean Repair Area with Isopropyl Alcohol
3 minDip a cotton swab or brush into 99% isopropyl alcohol and scrub away flux residue and debris from the board.
