Step-by-step

Power off the Moto G24
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely shut down before proceeding.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to pop out the tray and remove it completely.

Heat the back cover edges
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer along all four edges of the rear panel for 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach suction cup to back panel
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower third of the plastic back cover, near the bottom edge.

Insert opening pick under back panel
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap between the back panel and frame. Slide a plastic opening pick into the gap.

Slice through back panel adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick along the bottom, sides, and top edges to separate the adhesive securing the cover.

Remove the back panel
1 minLift the rear panel away from the frame and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew upper motherboard cover
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic motherboard bracket.

Unscrew lower speaker assembly
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws holding the loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device.

Pry off the motherboard cover
1 minInsert the flat tip of a spudger under the motherboard shield and gently unclip it from the frame.

Remove the speaker module
1 minUse tweezers or a spudger to pry up and lift out the lower speaker housing.

Disconnect the battery press connector
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pop the battery flex cable directly off its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minPry up the main ribbon cable that overlays the battery to prevent damaging it during battery removal.

Apply isopropyl alcohol to battery adhesive
2 minDrip a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to weaken the glue underneath.

Peel the battery pull-tabs
2 minLocate the battery pull-tab film, unpeel the clear tabs, and pull them steadily at a flat angle.

Pry up the old battery
3 minInsert a plastic card or flat spudger underneath the battery to gently lever it out of the recess.

Remove battery from phone body
1 minLift the original battery completely out of the frame and place it on a non-conductive surface.

Clean adhesive residue from housing
2 minWipe away remaining glue from the battery compartment using a cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

2 minPlace new double-sided battery adhesive strips onto the floor of the frame housing.

Seat the replacement battery
1 minLower the new battery into the housing, alignment-checking the connector position, and press down firmly.

Reconnect display and battery cables

2 minLay down custom pre-cut adhesive tape along the perimeter frame edges.

Press back panel into place
2 minAlign the back cover with the body and press firmly along all edges to seal it.

Reinsert the SIM card tray
