Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge and push firmly to pop it out.

Warm the Rear Panel
2 minApply heat around the outer edges of the rear panel for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive beneath.

Slice the Rear Adhesive
3 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull gently to create a gap, and insert a plastic opening pick.

Remove the Back Cover
2 minSlide the pick around the entire perimeter to sever all glue, then lift the plastic rear cover away.

Unscrew the Upper Shield
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper motherboard protective cover.

Detach the Motherboard Shield
2 minGently pry up the plastic motherboard shield using a spudger and remove it from the device.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

2 minRemove all Phillips screws holding the lower loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the phone frame.

2 minInsert a spudger under the lip of the speaker module and pry it up and out of the lower chassis.

Disconnect the Screen Flex Cable
1 minUse a spudger to carefully unplug the screen press connector from the sub-board.

Heat the Front Display
3 minHeat the front glass edges evenly with a heat gun for 3 minutes to loosen the screen adhesive.

Separate the Screen Glass
4 minPlace a suction cup on the screen, pull up to create a gap, and insert an opening pick under the glass edge.

Remove the Damaged Screen
3 minSlice around all screen edges with the pick, then thread the display flex cable out as you remove the glass.

Scrape Remaining Adhesive
5 minClean all residual glue and glass fragments off the frame using isopropyl alcohol and a plastic scraper.

Apply Frame Adhesive Strips
4 minLay double-sided screen adhesive strips neatly along the entire recessed inner perimeter of the frame.

Mount the Replacement Screen
3 minThread the new display flex cable through the chassis slot and firmly seat the panel into the frame.

Reconnect All Flex Cables
2 minSnap the display cable onto the sub-board, then reconnect the battery cable to the motherboard.

Reinstall Covers and Screws
4 minPlace the speaker housing and upper shield back in position, then reinstall and tighten all Phillips screws.
