Step-by-step

Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully powered down before proceeding.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone frame. Press firmly to eject the tray, then slide it out.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear panel using a heat gun for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive. Keep the heat moving continuously to avoid warping the plastic.

Apply the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the rear panel. Pull upward gently on the ring to create a small gap near the bottom edge.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap beneath the rear cover. Slide the pick around the perimeter to slice through the adhesive and release the plastic clips.

Lift off the back panel
1 minGently lift the back panel off the chassis once all perimeter clips and adhesive are freed. Place the cover aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the bottom loudspeaker cover to the frame.

Pry up the speaker module
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the corner of the loudspeaker housing. Pry upward gently to release the housing and set it aside.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard. Disconnecting power prevents electrical shorts.

Disconnect the main interconnect cable
1 minLever the ribbon cable connector up off the lower sub-board using the tip of a plastic spudger.

Unclip the coaxial antenna cable
2 minGrasp the antenna connector near the sub-board with precision tweezers and pull straight up to unclip it.

Remove the microphone daughterboard
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the lower sub-board containing the primary microphone. Pry up gently to release it from the frame adhesive and remove it.

Position the new microphone board
2 minPlace the replacement microphone sub-board into the bottom chassis recess, ensuring correct alignment over the locating pins.

Reconnect the antenna and flex cables
2 minAlign and press the coaxial antenna connector and main interconnect ribbon cable onto the replacement sub-board until they click securely into place.
