   Power off the device

   Press and hold the power button on your Motorola Moto G22, then select Power Off on the screen.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the upper left side of the frame. Push firmly to eject the tray and remove it.

   Heat the back cover

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat around the edges of the plastic back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Slice the back cover adhesive

   Insert a plastic prying pick between the back cover and the midframe. Carefully slide it around the perimeter to sever the adhesive.

   Remove the back cover

   Gently lift the back cover off the chassis and remove any remaining adhesive strings.

   Unscrew the plastic midframe

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the 16 screws holding the plastic midframe to the phone chassis.

   Unclip and remove the midframe

   Insert a spudger into the outer edge seam and pry upward to unclip the midframe from the chassis.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Use the flat edge of a spudger to pop the battery flex connector straight up off the motherboard.

   Disconnect the volume button flex

   Locate the volume button flex connector near the upper right side of the motherboard and detach it with your spudger.

    Peel up the volume button flex cable

    Use fine tweezers to gently peel the flexible volume button ribbon cable away from the inner frame housing.

    Remove the physical volume button key

    Push the volume rocker button outward from inside the recess to free it from the external frame.

    Clean the button recess

    Clean any dirt or leftover adhesive from the volume button cavity using a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

    Insert the replacement volume button key

    Position the new volume button key into the outer frame slot until it sits flush.

    Adhere the new volume flex cable

    Align the replacement flex cable with the alignment pins on the inner frame and press down firmly to set the adhesive.

    Attach the button cable connector

    Press the volume button flex cable connector directly onto its motherboard socket until it clicks into place.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Align and press down on the battery connector to reconnect power to the motherboard.

    Reinstall the midframe

    Snap the midframe back onto the chassis and secure it using the 16 Phillips #000 screws.

    Reseal the back cover and SIM tray

    Apply new adhesive tape to the edges of the back cover, press it firmly onto the frame, and reinsert the SIM card tray.
