Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the phone to remove it.

Heat the back cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on medium setting to warm the outer edges of the rear cover for two minutes.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and press down firmly to engage the suction.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then slide an opening pick into the seam.

Slice the rear adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick along all four edges of the back cover to cut through the factory adhesive.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the plastic rear panel clear off the frame and set it aside.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower speaker housing.

Remove the loudspeaker housing
1 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the speaker module and gently pry it up out of the chassis.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the main interconnect ribbon cable off the daughterboard.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the coaxial antenna connector straight up off the daughterboard.

Remove the daughterboard retaining screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips #000 screw holding the daughterboard to the frame.

Pry up the damaged charging board
2 minInsert the tip of a spudger beneath the daughterboard and pry it loose from the frame.

Position the replacement charging board
1 minSet the new charging port daughterboard into the bottom cavity of the frame.

Secure the daughterboard screw
1 minReinstall the Phillips #000 screw to hold the new board firmly in place.

Reconnect the antenna cable
1 minAlign the coaxial antenna cable over its socket on the daughterboard and press down until it snaps in.

Reconnect the main flex cable
1 minAlign the main interconnect ribbon cable over its connector and press firmly to attach it.

Reinstall the loudspeaker housing
1 minLower the loudspeaker module into place over the daughterboard and press down until seated.

Fasten the loudspeaker screws
2 minReplace and tighten all Phillips #000 screws securing the loudspeaker assembly.

Apply new back cover adhesive
2 minLay fresh pre-cut adhesive tape along the perimeter of the phone frame.

Reattach the back cover
2 minAlign the rear panel with the frame and press firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minPush the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone.
