Step-by-step

Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole near the SIM slot and push to pop out the tray.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply heat around the perimeter of the back cover for two minutes using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup

2 minPush the metal retaining clip inward using a spudger and slide the physical power key out of the frame slot.

Install the new power button assembly
3 minPosition the replacement power key and flex cable into the side frame slot and press the retaining clip into place.

Reconnect the power button flex cable
2 minAlign and press down on the power button flex connector until it snaps onto the motherboard socket.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minPress the battery cable connector back onto its matching motherboard socket.

Reinstall the upper midframe
4 minPlace the plastic upper cover over the motherboard and tighten all Phillips #000 screws.

Reseal the back cover
4 minApply new adhesive tape along the frame edge and press the back cover firmly onto the device.
