Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the side of the phone and push firmly to eject.

Heat Back Panel
3 minApply heat around the edges of the back panel with a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes to soften adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and press down firmly to create a seal.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
3 minPull up on the suction cup to form a gap, then slide an opening pick around all edges to slice adhesive.

Lift Back Cover
2 minGently lift the back panel off the phone frame, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor cable.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex cable connector straight off the motherboard.

Remove Midframe Screws
3 minRemove all Phillips #000 screws securing the upper motherboard bracket and lower speaker enclosure.

Detach Midframe
2 minInsert a plastic pry tool under the edges of the midframe to unclip and remove it from the housing.

Disconnect Battery Flex
1 minPry the battery cable connector straight up off the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to detach the main display flex cable from the main motherboard.

Remove Battery
3 minPull the clear battery release pull-tabs straight up to loosen and remove the battery from its recess.

Heat Display Assembly
3 minApply heat across the front screen edges for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the display glass adhesive.

Separate Screen Glass
4 minInsert an opening pick between the screen bezel and frame, then slice around the edge to release the screen.

Clean Chassis Frame
3 minScrape away leftover glass and adhesive, then clean frame edges using isopropyl alcohol and a cloth.

Apply Frame Adhesive
3 minLay down fresh double-sided adhesive tape along the perimeter of the phone chassis frame.

Thread Flex Cable
2 minFeed the new display assembly flex ribbon cable through the slot in the front chassis frame.

Press Display Home
2 minAlign the screen with the frame and press firmly around all edges to seat it onto the adhesive.

Reconnect Electronics Cables
2 minPress the display flex cable and battery flex cable firmly into their respective motherboard sockets.

Reinstall Midframe
3 minSnap the midframe back onto the phone chassis and secure it using all Phillips #000 screws.

Reattach Rear Cover
2 minReconnect fingerprint sensor cable, apply new back adhesive strips, and press rear cover into place.
