Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat the back panel edges
2 minApply heat around the outer perimeter of the back panel for two minutes using a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPress a thin opening pick into the gap between the rear cover and the frame along the bottom edge.

Slice the adhesive bond
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the back panel to detach the clips and slice through the adhesive.

Remove the back cover
1 minCarefully lift the plastic rear panel off the frame and set it aside.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing to the frame.

Pry up the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert the flat end of a plastic spudger under the speaker module and gently lever it out of the chassis.

Clean the speaker contacts
2 minLightly wipe the spring contact points on the motherboard with a lint-free swab dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Install the new loudspeaker
2 minAlign the replacement speaker assembly with the lower cavity and press down until it sits flush.

Secure the speaker housing screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to firmly hold the loudspeaker module in place.

Reattach the back cover
2 minAlign the rear cover with the phone body and press firmly along the edges until all clips snap shut.

Reinsert the SIM card tray
1 minSlide the SIM tray back into its slot on the frame until it sits fully flush.
