- Ensure the device is powered down completely before disconnecting internal flex cables.

Step-by-step

Power Down Device
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully powered off before continuing.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the tray on the left edge. Press firmly to pop out the tray and pull it clear.

Heat Rear Cover
2 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear plastic cover using a heat gun or hair dryer for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear cover and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

Insert Opening Pick
1 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the small gap created between the rear cover and the frame.

Slice Rear Adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic pick carefully along all four sides of the phone to slice through the perimeter adhesive.

Remove Rear Cover
1 minLift the rear cover straight up off the phone body and place it aside.

Unscrew Lower Speaker Assembly
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws holding down the lower speaker housing.

Remove Speaker Assembly
1 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the edge of the speaker housing and gently lift it out of the chassis.

Disconnect Interconnect Flex Cable
1 minUse a spudger to pry the main interconnect flex cable connector straight up off the daughterboard.

Disconnect Antenna Cable
1 minGently pry up the head of the coaxial antenna cable from its connector on the daughterboard using fine tweezers.

Remove Old Daughterboard
1 minPry up the sub-board containing the primary microphone from the bottom of the phone frame.

Clean Microphone Port Channel
2 minInspect the microphone acoustic hole inside the frame and clear out any dust or debris using tweezers.

Install Replacement Daughterboard
1 minPosition the new daughterboard with the integrated microphone into the bottom compartment and press it down flush.

Reconnect Antenna and Flex Cables
2 minSnap the coaxial antenna cable and main flex cable connectors securely onto the new sub-board.

Reinstall Speaker Housing
2 minSet the lower speaker housing back into position and re-tighten all Phillips screws until snug.

Reattach Rear Cover
2 minApply new adhesive tape along the phone frame perimeter and press the rear cover firmly back into place.

Reinsert SIM Tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the left edge until it sits completely flush.
