Safety

Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the card slot to release the SIM tray. Remove the tray completely from the device.

Heat the Rear Cover Edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat around the perimeter of the back cover for one minute. This softens the internal clips and adhesive.

Pry Open the Back Cover Seam
2 minInsert a thin plastic prying tool into the seam between the back cover and frame near the SIM slot opening.

Unclip the Rear Cover
3 minSlide the plastic pick along the perimeter of the phone to disengage all snap-fit plastic clips.

Disconnect the Fingerprint Sensor
2 minSlightly lift the back cover to reveal the fingerprint ribbon cable. Use a spudger to gently pop the ribbon connector off the motherboard.

Remove the Motherboard Bracket Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the top plastic motherboard shield.

Detach the Top Shield
2 minInsert a spudger under the plastic motherboard cover and pry it upward to remove it from the phone body.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Disconnect the Power Button Ribbon Cable
2 minLocate the power/volume button flex connector on the motherboard and disconnect it with the flat tip of a spudger.

Peel Up the Old Power Flex Assembly
3 minWarm the right outer frame with a heat gun for 30 seconds. Gently lift the thin power button ribbon cable out of its recessed frame track using tweezers.

Position the Replacement Power Button Flex
2 minPeel off the protective adhesive backing on the new power flex assembly. Align the internal contacts with the frame slot and press firmly.

Connect the Power Flex Ribbon
2 minAlign the press connector over its motherboard socket and press straight down until it snaps securely into place.

Reconnect the Battery
1 minAlign the battery press connector over the motherboard terminal and press down until it clicks.

Reinstall the Motherboard Shield
3 minPlace the top plastic bracket back onto the motherboard and tighten all Phillips screws until snug.

Snap the Rear Cover into Place
3 minReconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable, align the back cover onto the housing, and press around the edges until all clips snap shut.
