Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge and push firmly to eject it.

Unclip the back cover
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam between the plastic rear cover and the display frame near the SIM slot.

Separate the rear cover
3 minSlide the pick around all edges of the phone to release the plastic clips holding the back cover in place.

Remove speaker cover screws
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower loudspeaker cover to the frame.

Pry out speaker enclosure
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the lower speaker assembly and lift it out of the phone.

Disconnect the battery flex
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Disconnect the daughterboard flex
2 minUse the plastic spudger to lift the main ribbon cable connector away from the bottom microphone board.

Disconnect the antenna cable
2 minCarefully pry the white coaxial antenna cable head straight up from its socket on the daughterboard using tweezers.

Remove the microphone subboard
2 minGently pry up the daughterboard containing the primary microphone from the bottom of the housing.

Install replacement subboard
2 minAlign the new microphone daughterboard in the frame cutout and press down gently until it sits flush.

Reconnect the antenna cable
2 minPosition the coaxial antenna cable head over its socket and press down directly with tweezers until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the interconnect flex
2 minAlign the lower ribbon cable connector over the daughterboard socket and press gently until it clicks.

Reconnect the battery flex
1 minPress the battery connector firmly back onto its matching motherboard terminal.

Reattach the speaker enclosure
3 minPlace the loudspeaker cover back into position over the daughterboard and secure it with the Phillips screws.

Snap on the rear cover
3 minAlign the back cover with the body and press firmly along the perimeter until all internal tabs lock tight.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into the left side of the device until it sits flush.
