Step-by-step

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray on the left edge of the Moto G10. Pull the SIM card tray completely out of the frame.

Unclip the rear plastic cover
4 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam near the SIM card slot. Pry along the perimeter of the back panel to release all plastic clips.

Disconnect the fingerprint reader flex
2 minCarefully lift the back cover slightly without straining the connected cable. Use a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press connector off the logic board.

Unscrew the upper motherboard frame
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic motherboard shield to the upper chassis.

Remove the upper motherboard shield
2 minUse tweezers or a spudger to lift the plastic protective cover off the logic board.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket to disconnect power.

Disconnect the main display flex cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to detach the display press connector from the right side of the logic board.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cables
2 minGently pry up the antenna coaxial cable heads from their connectors on the bottom edge of the board.

Remove logic board mounting screws
2 minUnscrew the remaining Phillips #00 screws holding the motherboard onto the phone frame.

Pry up and remove the logic board
3 minInsert a plastic spudger under the edge of the board and carefully lift it out of the phone chassis.

Inspect the logic board under magnification
5 minExamine the board under a magnifying glass for corroded traces, loose components, or cold solder joints.

Apply flux to target areas
2 minApply a small drop of soldering flux to the affected component pads on the logic board.

Resolder damaged board components
10 minUse a fine-tip soldering iron and desoldering braid to reflow cracked joints or replace damaged surface-mount components.

Clean flux residue from the board
3 minMoisten a cotton swab with high-percentage isopropyl alcohol and gently clean away flux residue.

Reinstall the logic board into the frame
3 minPosition the repaired logic board back into the chassis and press lightly until it seats flat.

Reconnect display and interconnect cables
3 minSnap the display flex, interconnect flex, and coaxial antenna cables back onto their corresponding board sockets.

Reattach cover shield and rear panel
4 minReinstall the plastic top bracket with its screws, connect the fingerprint sensor cable, and snap the rear cover back on.
