Step-by-step

Power Down Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to completely turn off your phone.

Remove SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left side of the frame and push firmly to eject the tray.

Heat Back Cover
2 minApply heat to the rear cover edges using a heat gun or iOpener for about two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPush a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the back cover and the frame near the charging port.

Slice Rear Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the device to slice through the perimeter adhesive and release the clips.

Lift Back Cover
1 minGently lift the back cover off the chassis, pivoting it slowly so you do not damage any internal flex cables.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector directly off the motherboard.

Remove Speaker Screws
2 minUnscrew the Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker assembly to the frame.

Pry Up Loudspeaker
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the edge of the loudspeaker module and lift it out of the phone.

Disconnect Interconnect Flex
1 minUse your spudger to pry the main interconnect ribbon cable straight up from the lower charging board.

Disconnect Antenna Cable
2 minGently pry the coaxial antenna cable head up from its socket on the charging board using precision tweezers.

Remove Daughterboard Screws
2 minRemove the remaining Phillips #00 screws that lock the charging daughterboard to the lower chassis.

Extract Old Daughterboard
2 minSlide a spudger under the charging board and carefully lift it out from the device housing.

Position New Board
2 minSet the replacement charging port board into the bottom recess, ensuring alignment pins fit into place.

Secure New Board
2 minReinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to hold the replacement daughterboard firmly in place.

Attach Antenna Cable
2 minAlign the coaxial antenna head over its socket on the board and press down gently until it snaps into place.

Attach Interconnect Flex
1 minAlign the interconnect flex cable over its connector on the new board and press down firmly to secure it.

Reinstall Loudspeaker
2 minPlace the loudspeaker assembly back into its recess over the charging board area.

Fasten Speaker Screws
2 minInsert and tighten all Phillips #00 screws to secure the loudspeaker module.

Reconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minPress the fingerprint sensor flex connector back onto its socket on the main motherboard.

Attach Back Cover
2 minAlign the back cover with the body and press along the edges until the clips snap firmly closed.

Insert SIM Tray
1 minPush the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush.
After your Motorola G05 charging port repair
