Step-by-step

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left side of the Motorola G04. Pull the SIM card tray completely out of the device.

Heat Back Cover Edges
2 minApply heat evenly around the outer perimeter of the back panel using a heat gun for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the back cover and press down firmly to secure grip.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a seam, then insert a plastic prying pick and slide it along the perimeter.

1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut all electrical power.

2 minRemove the remaining Phillips screws holding the motherboard inside the housing frame.

Extract Mainboard
2 minGently lift the motherboard out of the housing frame using tweezers, taking care not to snag remaining flex cables.

Unscrew Loudspeaker Assembly
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the bottom speaker enclosure.

Remove Charging Sub-Board
2 minDisconnect the lower interconnect ribbon and pry the lower USB charging board out of the phone frame.

Soak Components in Alcohol
5 minSubmerge both the isolated mainboard and sub-board in a container filled with 99% isopropyl alcohol for 5 minutes.

Scrub Away Corrosion
5 minGently clean all liquid residue and white corrosion off both circuit boards using a soft brush.

Dry Circuit Boards
15 minBlow compressed air across the boards to remove trapped liquid, then leave them to air dry completely on a clean mat.

Reassemble Phone Frame
10 minReinstall the dried circuit boards into the frame, reconnect all flex cables, secure screws, and attach the back cover.
