Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before continuing.

Remove SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole next to the tray. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat Rear Cover Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or heated pad around the perimeter of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
3 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the lower seam. Carefully slide it around the edges to cut through the frame adhesive.

Lift Off Rear Cover
1 minGently lift the plastic rear cover away from the internal frame and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew Speaker Module
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly.

Remove Loudspeaker Housing
1 minInsert the point of a spudger beneath the loudspeaker notch and lift upward to dislodge the module.

Disconnect Main Flex Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the main interconnect cable straight up from the sub-board connector.

Disconnect Antenna Coaxial Cable
1 minGently lever the small gold coaxial antenna connector off its socket on the sub-board using tweezers.

Pry Out Defective Sub-Board
2 minSlide a flat opening tool under the sub-board housing the primary microphone and pry it up out of the chassis.

Seat Replacement Sub-Board
2 minPosition the new microphone sub-board into the bottom cavity and press gently until it rests flat against the frame.

Reconnect Antenna Cable
1 minAlign the coaxial antenna head directly over its socket on the new sub-board and press down until it snaps into place.

Attach Interconnect Flex Cable
1 minAlign the main flex connector over its sub-board socket and press down firmly to lock it in place.

Reinstall Loudspeaker Module
2 minPlace the loudspeaker cover back over the lower assembly and tighten the seven Phillips screws to secure it.

Apply New Perimeter Adhesive
3 minClean remaining glue with isopropyl alcohol, then line the perimeter of the back frame with fresh double-sided adhesive strips.

Seal Rear Cover
2 minAlign the back cover over the phone and press down firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive, then reinsert the SIM tray.
