Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the Moto G.

Remove Outer Back Cover
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the small notch near the micro-USB port and gently lift the shell off.

Remove SIM Card
1 minPress down gently on the SIM card to unlatch it and slide it out from its slot.

5 minUse a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove all 14 screws securing the plastic inner frame to the chassis.

3 minInsert a spudger along the perimeter seam and pop open the internal retention clips.

Lift Off Rear Midframe
2 minCarefully lift the plastic rear midframe away from the phone body.

Pry Out Damaged Speaker
2 minUse precision tweezers to lift the original speaker module out of its recessed housing in the frame.

Clean Speaker Contacts
2 minWipe the gold motherboard contacts with a lint-free swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to remove debris.

Insert New Speaker Module
2 minPlace the replacement speaker into the housing recess, ensuring the contact pads face toward the motherboard.

Snap Rear Midframe Place
3 minPosition the plastic midframe over the phone and press down firmly until all clips snap shut.

Reinstall Housing Screws
5 minThread and tighten the 14 Torx T3 screws to secure the inner midframe.

Reattach Back Cover and SIM
2 minSlide the SIM card back into its slot, then align and snap the outer back cover firmly onto the phone.
