Safety

Step-by-step
- 1
Pry off back cover
1 minInsert an opening tool into the notch near the charging port and snap the back cover off the device.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole to eject the SIM card and tray.

Unscrew rear midframe
4 minUse a T4 Torx screwdriver to remove the 14 screws securing the plastic midframe to the body.

Unsnap rear midframe
2 minInsert a plastic spudger between the midframe and display frame to unclip and remove the midframe.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Remove battery
2 minLever the spudger under the battery cell to break the adhesive and lift it out of the recess.

Disconnect display flex cable
2 minFlip up the small ZIF locking flap on the display cable socket and slide the flex cable out.

Disconnect digitizer flex cable
1 minLift the retaining latch on the digitizer connector and pull the cable free using tweezers.

Unscrew motherboard
1 minRemove the single T4 Torx screw holding the upper section of the motherboard to the frame.

Lift out motherboard
2 minTilt the motherboard up from the bottom end and gently lift it out of the chassis.

Heat display edges
3 minApply heat to the front glass edges with a heat gun or hair dryer for 2 minutes to soften the glue.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the front screen glass.

Slice screen adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup while working an opening pick along all four screen edges to cut the adhesive.

Separate display assembly
2 minLift the broken screen off the frame, carefully guiding flex cables through the frame slots.

Scrape old adhesive
3 minClean remaining glue residue from the metal frame using isopropyl alcohol and a spudger.

Apply new adhesive tape
3 minPlace strips of double-sided adhesive tape along the top, bottom, and side borders of the frame.

Thread new screen cables
2 minGuide the display and digitizer flex cables of the new screen through the frame cutouts.

Set new screen
2 minAlign the screen assembly with the frame perimeter and press down firmly around all edges.

Reinstall motherboard
2 minLower the motherboard back into the frame housing and secure it with the single T4 Torx screw.

Reconnect screen cables
2 minInsert the display and digitizer flex cables into their respective sockets and push the lock latches down.

Reinstall battery
2 minPress the battery back into its compartment and attach the connector to the motherboard.

Secure rear midframe
3 minSnap the plastic midframe over the chassis and reinstall the 14 T4 Torx screws.

Attach back cover
1 minAlign the back cover over the phone and press around the perimeter until all clips snap into place.
