Step-by-step

Power Off Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before proceeding.

Remove Back Cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the USB port. Pry the flexible rear shell away from the frame and remove it.

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole beside the SIM slot. Push firmly to pop the tray out and set it aside.

Remove Frame Screws
5 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the fourteen screws holding down the inner chassis frame.

Pry Off Inner Frame
3 minInsert a plastic spudger along the seam of the inner housing. Unclip the plastic tabs and lift the inner frame off the device.

Disconnect Battery Cable
2 minPry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using a plastic spudger to prevent electrical shorts.

Disconnect Display Flex
2 minFlip up the small locking flap on the display ZIF socket. Gently slide the display ribbon cable out of the connector.

Disconnect Digitizer Cable
2 minLift the retaining latch on the touch digitizer connector. Pull the digitizer ribbon cable away from the logic board.

Remove Rear Camera Module
2 minPry up the rear camera press connector from the logic board. Lift the camera module out of its recessed housing.

Unclip Logic Board
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool under the edge of the logic board. Gently lift the board up to release it from the front assembly tabs.

Inspect Board Damage
5 minExamine the logic board under a magnifying glass or headlamp. Inspect components for cracked solder joints, bridged pins, or corrosion.

Apply Liquid Flux
2 minApply a small drop of liquid rosin flux over the damaged solder joints or component pins requiring repair.

Reflow Solder Connections
10 minTouch the preheated fine-tip soldering iron to the damaged pins to reflow the joint. Use desoldering braid to clear any excess solder bridges.

Clean Logic Board
3 minClean the repaired area using a soft brush dampened with 99% isopropyl alcohol to remove all residual flux.

Reinstall Logic Board
3 minLower the logic board back into the front display assembly. Press gently along the edges until the board snaps into the retention clips.

Reconnect Ribbons and Camera
4 minReinsert the display and digitizer flex cables into their sockets and push down the locking flaps. Reconnect the rear camera module.

Reconnect Battery and Inner Frame
3 minPress the battery connector down onto the logic board socket. Position the inner frame over the phone and press firm around the perimeter until it clicks.

Fasten Frame Screws
5 minReinstall the fourteen T3 Torx screws to secure the inner chassis. Reinsert the SIM tray and snap the back cover onto the phone.
