Step-by-step

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge. Push firmly to eject the tray and remove it.

Heat Back Cover
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the outer perimeter of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear cover and pull upward gently to create a small gap.

Insert Opening Tool
2 minSlide a plastic prying tool or opening pick into the small gap between the back cover and the frame.

Slice Edge Adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic tool slowly around the edges to cut through the frame adhesive. Be careful not to insert the tool too deep near the fingerprint sensor.

Lift Rear Cover
2 minGently hinge the rear cover open towards the right side of the phone. Keep it close to avoid damaging the fingerprint flex cable.

Remove Bracket Screws
2 minUnscrew the Phillips #000 screws securing the metal shield over the fingerprint cable connector.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex cable straight up from its motherboard socket.

Remove Upper Midframe Screws
3 minRemove all Phillips screws holding the upper plastic motherboard cover in place.

Detach Motherboard Cover
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the edge of the upper plastic cover and lift it off the device.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Apply Isopropyl Alcohol
3 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the gaps surrounding the battery to soften the glue.

Pry Out Old Battery
4 minInsert a flat plastic pry tool under the bottom edge of the battery and carefully lever it out. Do not bend or puncture the battery.

Clean Frame Cavity
2 minScrape away remaining adhesive residue from the inner chassis using tweezers and a bit of isopropyl alcohol.

Apply New Adhesive Strips
2 minPeel the protective backing off the new battery adhesive strips and lay them flat inside the battery compartment.

Install New Battery
2 minSet the new battery into the housing cavity and press firmly for several seconds to bond it to the adhesive.

Reconnect Battery Cable
1 minAlign and snap the battery flex cable connector down onto the motherboard socket.
