Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before continuing.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the card tray on the left side of the frame. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it out of the phone.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the back panel for about two minutes. Keep the heat source moving to avoid melting the plastic.

Slice the edge adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick between the rear panel and the outer frame at the bottom corner. Slide the pick around all sides to release the clips and adhesive tape.

Unclip the back cover
2 minGently hinge open the rear cover from the right side like a book. Do not pull it away completely because the fingerprint sensor cable is still connected.

Disconnect the fingerprint cable
2 minUse a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Lift off the back panel and set it aside.

Remove lower housing screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing to the phone frame.

Pry up the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the notch of the lower speaker assembly. Carefully pry up and remove the loudspeaker module.

Install the new speaker module
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module with the lower frame compartment. Press down firmly around the edges until it sits flat and snaps into position.

Secure the housing screws
3 minReinsert and tighten the seven Phillips #000 screws to hold the loudspeaker assembly firmly against the chassis.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minHold the rear cover close to the frame and snap the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector onto its motherboard socket.

Press the back cover closed
2 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press firmly around all perimeter edges until all plastic clips snap into place.
