Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minTurn off your Motorola G Pure completely before starting the repair. Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on screen.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push inward firmly to pop the SIM card tray out and remove it.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply warm heat from a heat gun along the outer edges of the rear panel for two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Insert a plastic prying tool
2 minWedge a thin plastic prying tool into the seam between the plastic back cover and the phone frame near the SIM slot.

Slice along the edge adhesive
3 minSlide the prying tool around all four outer edges to unclip the rear cover snaps and slice through the peripheral tape.

Unclip the fingerprint cable guard
2 minPartially tilt open the rear cover and use tweezers to unclip the small metal bracket covering the fingerprint sensor flex connector.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable off the motherboard.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear cover completely off the chassis and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew the motherboard bracket
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic motherboard cover frame.

Remove the motherboard cover
1 minPry up the edges of the top plastic motherboard shield and lift it out of the phone.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minInsert a plastic spudger under the battery connector and pry straight up to disconnect it from the motherboard socket.

Apply isopropyl alcohol
2 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the upper and lower edges of the battery to loosen the glue.

Heat the front display glass
2 minTurn the phone over and gently heat the lower portion of the screen for 60 seconds to soften the battery adhesive underneath.

Pry up the old battery
4 minInsert a flat plastic opening card under the side of the battery and slowly lever it up until it releases from the frame.

Clean the battery well
2 minWipe away residual adhesive and alcohol from the battery recess using a lint-free cloth.

Apply new adhesive strips
2 minPlace new double-sided adhesive strips into the battery compartment on the phone frame and peel off the backing film.

Install the new battery
2 minAlign the replacement battery into the frame well and press firmly to set it into the adhesive.

Connect the battery cable
1 minAlign the battery flex cable press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

Reinstall the motherboard cover
3 minPosition the plastic motherboard shield back over the top assembly and secure it with the Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect the fingerprint cable
2 minSnap the fingerprint sensor flex cable back into its socket on the motherboard and reinstall the metal bracket cover.

Press the back cover into place
2 minAlign the rear panel over the phone body and firmly press around all outer edges to snap the clips and seal the back.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the device until flush.
