Step-by-step

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left edge of the phone and press firmly. Remove the SIM and microSD card tray completely.

Heat Rear Cover
3 minApply a heat gun or heating pad to the back cover perimeter for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

Slice Rear Adhesive
5 minAttach a suction cup to the back cover, lift slightly to create a gap, and insert an opening pick. Slide the pick around the perimeter to sever the adhesive.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minCarefully tilt the back cover open without straining the ribbon cable. Use a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor connector off the motherboard.

2 minUse a spudger to disconnect the main display cable and lower sub-board interconnect cable from the motherboard.

3 minRemove any remaining motherboard retaining screws and carefully lift the main logic board out of the phone chassis.

Extract Charging Sub-Board
2 minGently lever the lower sub-board out of the frame using a plastic opening tool, taking care not to bend the board.

10 minSubmerge the motherboard and sub-board in high-purity isopropyl alcohol and scrub away corrosion using a fine-bristled brush under a magnifying lens.
