Step-by-step

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge. Push firmly to eject the tray and set it aside.

Heat Rear Cover
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the edges of the back panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Create Initial Gap
2 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear panel and pull up firmly. Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Slice Rear Adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick along all four edges of the phone to cut through the rear cover adhesive tape.

Unseal Rear Cover
1 minGently swing the rear cover open from the left edge, being careful not to strain the attached fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minUnscrew the single Phillips screw securing the metal cable shield, then disconnect the fingerprint flex cable from the board.

Remove Speaker Screws
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing.

Pry Out Speaker Module
2 minInsert a plastic spudger into the notch on the loudspeaker assembly and lift it up out of the chassis.

Disconnect Interconnect Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to detach the main ribbon interconnect cable from the microphone daughterboard.

Unplug Antenna Coaxial Cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to gently unclip the black and white antenna coaxial connectors from the sub-board.

Remove Sub-Board Screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips screw holding the microphone sub-board to the internal frame.

Remove Microphone Sub-Board
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the sub-board edge and carefully pry the board up from the phone frame.

Clean Microphone Rubber Boot
2 minInspect the rubber acoustic seal and port opening in the frame, clearing away debris with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.

Install New Microphone Sub-Board
2 minPosition the new microphone board into the chassis recess, making sure the primary microphone seats into the rubber boot.

Reconnect Cables
2 minSnap the antenna coaxial connectors onto their terminals and press the main interconnect ribbon back onto the sub-board.

Reinstall Speaker Module
2 minPlace the loudspeaker cover back into position and secure it with the seven Phillips screws.

Reconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minAttach the fingerprint flex cable to the board, replace the metal shield, and tighten the retaining screw.

Reseal Rear Cover
3 minApply fresh pre-cut adhesive along the frame border, lower the rear cover into place, and press firmly to seal.
