Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely turned off before proceeding.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray on the left edge. Push firmly to eject the tray and remove it.

Heat the Back Cover
2 minApply a heat gun or heated iOpener around the rear cover edges for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice Rear Adhesive
5 minInsert a thin opening pick under the seam of the back cover and carefully slide it around the perimeter.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minGently tilt the rear cover open and use a spudger to detach the fingerprint sensor flex cable from the board.

Unscrew Upper Rear Frame
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the upper motherboard shield and bracket.

Pry Off Upper Bracket
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the motherboard shield and lift it away from the chassis.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up from its socket to cut power.

Disconnect Display and Interconnect Flexes
2 minUnplug the main display cable and the sub-board interconnect flex cable from the logic board.

Unplug Antenna Cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to carefully pop off the white and black coaxial antenna connectors from the board.

Remove Camera Modules
3 minDisconnect and remove the front-facing and rear camera assemblies from the logic board.

Remove Logic Board Retaining Screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips screw holding the logic board down to the mid-frame.

Remove the Logic Board
2 minGently pry up the top edge of the logic board and lift it out of the phone chassis.

Solder Damaged Board Components
15 minApply flux to the affected logic board trace or component and use a soldering iron or hot air station to repair broken joints.

Reinstall Logic Board
2 minAlign the repaired logic board back into the chassis and press gently until it rests flat in place.
