Step-by-step
- 1
Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it entirely.

Heat the rear panel edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on medium setting to warm the perimeter of the back cover for 2 minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the panel.

Slice the rear panel adhesive
5 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull up slightly to create a gap. Insert a plastic prying pick and slice slowly around all four edges.

Lift off the rear panel
2 minGently lift the back cover away from the chassis once all adhesive is cut. Set the rear panel aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the midframe cover
4 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the plastic upper midframe shield.

Detach the midframe shield
2 minInsert a flat spudger under the edge of the plastic midframe cover and snap it free from the phone body.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery press-connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect interconnect and display flex cables
2 minPry up the display flex cable and the lower main interconnect cable connectors from the logic board using a spudger.

Unclip the coaxial antenna cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to gently lift the antenna cable heads straight off their metallic terminal snaps on the side of the board.

Disconnect the camera modules
3 minPry up the press-fit connectors for the front-facing selfie camera and rear camera cluster, then lift the cameras out.

Remove the motherboard securing screw
1 minLocate and remove the single Phillips #000 screw holding the upper logic board to the inner frame assembly.

Pry up the logic board
3 minInsert a spudger under the bottom edge of the logic board and gently lever it up from the chassis, taking care not to snag remaining ribbon cables.

Transfer thermal graphite pads
2 minUse tweezers to peel any intact thermal pads from the old logic board and press them onto the corresponding spots on the replacement board.

Install the replacement logic board
2 minAlign the top edge of the new logic board into the chassis recess and lower it flat into position.
