Safety
- Always power off the phone completely prior to opening to prevent electrical shorts.
- Wear safety eye protection when heating glass or plastic panels.
- Be careful not to puncture or flex the internal lithium-ion battery during disassembly.

Step-by-step

Power Off Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to shut down the device completely.

Remove SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone to eject the SIM tray.

Heat Back Cover Edges
2 minApply a heat gun set to low temperature around the rear cover perimeter for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower third of the rear panel and gently pull upward to create a small gap.

Insert Opening Pick
1 minSlide a plastic opening pick into the seam between the back cover and the midframe.

Slice Rear Adhesive
3 minGuide the pick along the outer edges of the phone to slice through the adhesive holding the back cover.

Remove Back Cover
2 minLift the rear panel away from the frame while carefully disconnecting any fingerprint reader flex cable attached.

Unscrew Lower Speaker Assembly
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing.

Remove Speaker Housing
1 minPry up the plastic speaker cover with the flat end of a spudger and lift it out of the chassis.

Disconnect Main Interconnect Flex Cable
1 minUse a spudger to pry the main ribbon cable connector straight up from the bottom sub-board.

Disconnect Coaxial Antenna Cable
1 minGently unsnap the white antenna cable head from the sub-board using pointed tweezers.

Unscrew Sub-Board
1 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw holding the sub-board to the lower frame.

Remove Sub-Board
2 minPry underneath the edge of the sub-board containing the primary microphone and remove it from the device.

Transfer Rubber Gasket
2 minUse tweezers to transfer the rubber microphone seal from the old board to the new microphone sub-board.

Install Replacement Sub-Board
2 minPlace the new sub-board into the lower housing, aligning the microphone port with the frame hole.

Reconnect Antenna and Flex Cables
2 minSnap the coaxial cable connector and the main interconnect ribbon cable back onto the sub-board.

Reinstall Speaker Cover
2 minSet the lower speaker housing into place and tighten the Phillips screws to secure it.

Reattach Rear Cover
3 minApply new adhesive strips along the inner frame edges and press the back cover firmly onto the phone.
