Step-by-step

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it out completely.

Warm the rear cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the outer edges of the rear cover for two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover and press down firmly to secure it.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup and slide a plastic opening pick into the gap between the frame and back cover.

Slice through perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the device to unclip the rear cover and sever the adhesive.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly lift the rear cover and use a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector off the motherboard.

Unscrew the upper shield
3 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the plastic motherboard frame/shield to the chassis.

Remove the upper shield
1 minPry up the edges of the upper motherboard cover using a spudger and lift it off the device.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pop the battery flex connector straight up off its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the display cable
1 minUnplug the main display ribbon cable from the motherboard by prying it straight up.

Disconnect the interconnect cable
1 minDetach the lower interconnect board cable from its connector on the bottom edge of the motherboard.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minUse precision tweezers to gently pry the antenna coaxial cable head straight off the motherboard terminal.

Remove the logic board screw
1 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the single screw holding the logic board to the housing.

Remove the logic board
2 minCarefully pry under the top edge of the logic board and lift it out of the phone frame.
After your Motorola G Play logic board repair
Power the G Play back on and test the logic board repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this Motorola G Play job before assuming the part is defective.
